New Year’s Resolutions & Why I Hate Them

474

Look, I get it, there’s no more logical time to change something about yourself.  Seriously though, does everybody have to have the same resolution?  “I’m going to go to the gym constantly this year, and be healthy.”  How many times have you heard that in your lifetime from somebody?  I’m 22 and have heard it to the point that I’m sick of it.

It has nothing to do with the fact that people want to workout.  I’m all for it.  We all need to work as a society towards being healthier.  The problem I have is that 95% of people who make this their New Year’s resolution ultimately fail.  I attend NMU, so naturally I go to the PEIF to workout.   I hate the month of January because people go for the last two weeks once school resumes.  Once February hits, they’re all back home sitting on their butts.  This will be my fifth January as a regular at the PEIF, and I hope that more people are just going to skip their two week workouts and not make it a big cluster of people in the weight room, basketball courts, and treadmills.  To the 5% who will succeed in becoming a regular, see you in February.  End rant.
