Marquette, MI – December 27, 2023 – On our latest Active Physical Therapy Update we heard about Shoulder Impingement, specifically Subacromial Pain Syndrome.
Wedig explained that there are different forms of shoulder impingement, but Subacromial Pain Syndrome is the generic term that encompasses pain associated with any lesion within a structure or structures within the subacromial Space
She said they are commonly on-traumatic, usually one-sided, shoulder problems that cause pain, localized around the top of the shoulder, often worsening during or subsequent to lifting the arm.
Wedig also outlined some of the main symptoms, including persistent shoulder pain without any known preceding trauma and pain that is normally at the front of the shoulder that kicks in when lifting the arm.
She also shared information how it can be diagnosed and how treatment through physical therapy can help.
