MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The City of Marquette has a new mayor.
At their regular post-election administrative meeting last night, the Marquette City Commission selected Commissioner Johnny DePetro to serve as Mayor and Commissioner Robert Niemi as Mayor Pro-Tem.
The Commission also welcomed two new Commissioners, Sara Cambensy and former Commissioner and Mayor Michael Coyne.
DePetro takes over for outgoing Mayor John Kivela, who was recently elected to the post of State Representative for the 109th District. The other opening on the Commission was created when Commissioner David St. Onge announced he would not run for another term.
The Commission also approved their meeting schedule for the year last night.
