Marquette, MI – July 6, 2026 – The Lake Superior Community Partnership is helping to spread the word of the Marquette County Ambassadors about getting a message to lawmakers in Lansing about making some needed changes to recently-passed state clean energy laws that they say will have a detrimental effect on Upper Michigan.
LSCP CEO, Natalie Chmiko, spoke about the effort with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Chmiko said there has been a new web page developed to get residents in Marquette County, and around the U.P., information about the key issues at play and how they can get involved.
She explained that the timeline in the energy laws for Michigan to be a carbon-free state by 2040 will lead to early shut downs of so-called RICE generators, which in turn, will send U.P. energy costs soaring over the next several years.
