Marquette, MI – November 10, 2025 – Dr. Chris Olsen begins his tenure in January as the new President at Northern Michigan University, and we had the chance to sit down with him today to hear his thoughts on his new position.
Olsen said he is very impressed with both the campus and Marquette communities and how well they interact, and he is looking forward to getting to work as NMU’s 19th President.
Olsen comes to NMU from Indiana State University in Terra Haute, where he has been serving as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. He will officially start at NMU on January 5th, 2026.
