Marquette, MI – June 4, 2021 – Marquette County Law Enforcement agencies have used Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) on emergency calls for over 15 years, and while they have served the community well for many cardiac emergencies, they are now near or have passed their life expectancy.
Zyburt explained that Deputy Best pointed out that the current units were no longer 100% compatible with the technology employed by EMS units, causing some lack in continuity in care as well as difficulty finding replacement batteries.
Eppensteiner said the Community Foundation partnered with the Marquette County Law Enforcement Administrator’s Association to create the “Jumpstart A Heart” program to raise funds for new AEDs for Marquette County Law Enforcement.
The new devices will be compatible with advanced lifesaving equipment found on EMS vehicles, and will include updates such as fully compatible infant/juvenile pads.
