Sniffle Season

Negaunee, Michigan September 25, 2018 – ‘Tis the season….the season for the sniffles. If you or a family member haven’t gotten them yet, don’t worry. You will. It’s only a matter of time. MUAH HA HA HA HA!

Anyways. My son seems to always have the sniffles, and it’s either due to A. Allergies, B. Something going around, or C. Both. The poor kid has to take a children’s allergy medication every day of the year, along with some medical nose spray to wash it down.

I feel for him. He’s constantly sniffling, dripping snot everywhere. He can’t help it! But it’s still gross.

So, once Fall hits, I start really ramping up the cleaning and the home remedies, because sometimes you just need a little extra boost in addition to that medication.

I’ll disinfect everything, of course, but here are a couple of other at-home remedies you can try in your house to help stave off the sniffles:

  1. Drink plenty of H2O (of course)
  2. Take a good, ol’ fashioned Sauna! (a hot shower or bath will do if you have the unfortunate bad luck of not having a sauna)
  3. Try the Neti Pot (it does work!)
  4. Gargle with salt water (gross, but worth it)
  5. REST!

I know, you were thinking I’d give you some crazy remedies, right? The truth is, those five very basic “home remedies” are truly all you need to follow. I’ve asked doctor after doctor from all different specialties, and they all say the same five things. Sometimes they add in another item or two, but these five NEVER vary.

So, buck up buttercup, and get ready to take on the Season’s Sniffles. You can DO IT!

Keep up with me on The Sunny Morning Show weekdays from 6-10AM on Sunny 101.9!
