Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Marquette resident has been recognized for being a long-time blood donor in the area.

Mark Johnson was honored at a gathering today the U.P. Regional Blood Center in Marquette for consistently donating blood for the last 35 years.

Johnson joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about why he gives blood and why he has been doing it for so long.

Johnson said he gives blood because it’s an easy thing to do and he knows it goes to help people across the U.P. who need it.

He believes he is at somewhere around 850 donations, but honestly says he’s started to lose count.

He added that the brief inconvenience of giving the blood is minor in comparison to the inconvenience that someone who needs the blood may be experiencing.
