Negaunee, MI – September 12th, 2025 – The Miners, looking to remain undefeated under new head coach Jeff Niemi, entered the game fresh off a shutout win on the road in Gladstone. In recent years, the Miners and Copper Kings have built a fierce rivalry, regularly facing each other multiple times each season. Calumet struck first with a Ben Anderson touchdown run, followed by a strong defensive effort that saw Kyle Waterman intercepted for a pick-six by Austin Lucas. The Miners responded with points from their reliable playmaker, Even DallAngelo, who continued his streak by scoring a special teams touchdown in every game this season. At halftime, Calumet held a 13-6 lead over Negaunee.
The Miners started the second half with energy, as Mason Swenor broke free for a long run that set up a Vince Tincknell rushing touchdown. The Copper Kings then answered through the air, with Tyler Halonen connecting with Ben Anderson for his second touchdown of the game. The Miners kept it close, as Vince Tincknell added another rushing score to bring them within two points. Needing a defensive stop, the Miners were unable to contain Tyler Halonen, who kept the ball on an option play for a touchdown that gave the Copper Kings a 27-18 lead. After the Miners were unsuccessful on their following drive, Ben Anderson added a hat trick as he scored his third TD, which ultimately sealed the victory 33-18.
