Negaunee, MI – October 11, 2024 – The Negaunee High School Football team went head-to-head with the powerhouse Menominee Maroons in a game that had fans on the edge of their seats. Both teams entered with impressive winning streaks, knowing that only one would continue their dominance. Announcers Carl Leander Johnson and Brad Saatio were on the call live from the stadium on Sunny 101.9, bringing play-by-play action to listeners.
In the first quarter, Negaunee High School Football struggled to break through Menominee’s defense, as the Maroons held them on their side of the field with a strong, smart defense. Menominee’s #12 made a spectacular catch, putting the first points on the board with a touchdown. The Miners fought hard to respond but couldn’t break through before the end of the quarter.
However, in the second quarter, Aiden Steele made an outstanding play to give Negaunee High School Football their first touchdown of the game, closing the gap to 6-8. Menominee quickly answered back with another touchdown, widening their lead to 6-15. Not backing down, Ty Jacobson threw a perfect pass to Ian Engstrom, who made an amazing catch to bring the Miners within two points at 13-15 by the end of the first half.
But Menominee wasn’t done yet, scoring another touchdown and ending the first half with a score of Negaunee 13 – 22 Menominee, keeping the Miners on their toes in this highly competitive game.
