Stabenow Working on Improving Maternity Care

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow and joined Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa in writing legislation that will improve maternity care for women and newborns and reduce health care costs.

    The measure called the “Quality Care for Moms and Babies Act” is designed to hold Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program accountable for higher quality standards to reduce the risk of complications for women and their babies.

    Approximately 40 percent of all child births are paid for by the government. The bill is also endorsed by doctors who are calling for a collaborative effort to improve care and reduce costs.
