10/17/14 Marquette, Michigan – Carl Leander Johnson the voice of the Negaunee Miners and his partner Jesse Anderson traveled to Marquette, Michigan on this cold and blustery Friday night, to bring you exciting football action. The Negaunee Miners faced the Marquette Redmen LIVE on Sunny.FM.
The Marquette Redmen were first to receive the ball tonight from the Negaunee Miners. The Redmen moved the ball down to the Negaunee Miners 39 yard line where they were stopped by the Miners defense with 7 minutes left in the quarter. The Negaunee Miners were able to take the ball down to the Marquette Redmen 25 yard line on their first possession, but both team remained scoreless to end the first quarter.
The Negaunee Miners were not able to push pass the Marquette Redmen’s defense and turned the ball over from downs early in the second quarter to the Marquette Redmen. The Miners next possession started with Austin Johnson making two great runs to gain 25 yards, but they would turn over the ball to the Marquette Redmen with 4 minutes left in the quarter. The second quarter of the game ended with both teams scoreless.
The Negaunee Miners first possession of the second half brought the first touchdown of the game by Ryan Bischof, and with the two point conversion the Miners led 8-0 against the Marquette Redmen. The Negaunee Miners played great defense against the Marquette Redmen and regained possession quickly, but where unable to take advantage of the drive. The third quarter ended with the Negaunee Miners leading 8-0 against the Marquette Redmen in Marquette, Michigan.
The Marquette Redmen had the first possession of the fourth quarter against the Negaunee Miners and scored a touchdown to trail the Negaunee Miners 8-6 halfway through the fourth quarter. The Marquette Redmen stepped up the defense against the Negaunee Miners to hold the Miner lead to 8-6 on their next drive on Sunny.FM. The Marquette Redmen kicked a field goal with 6 seconds left in the game to take the lead and the win 9-8 against the Negaunee Miners on Sunny.FM
