Marquette, MI – October 12, 2026 – On our latest update with Active Physical Therapy, we heard about vestibular loss, vertigo and more.

LeAnn Makela, Physical Therapist at Active’s Marquette location, spoke about it with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Makela explained that vestibular loss is when your inner ear system is disrupted, most commonly by a type of viral infection, adding that vertigo is a symptom of a problem, but not a problem in it of itself.

She said if you experience a sudden onset of spinning, you should always be evaluated by a medical provider promptly. There are types of vertigo that would be more of a medical emergency. Doctors can determine the cause of the vertigo.

Makela stressed that Physical Therapists with a background in vestibular rehab are trained to evaluate and treat people who have vestibular loss and Active Physical Therapy can help.

You can be seen after receiving a referral from your doctor. For more information about Active Physical Therapy you can visit their website at www.stayactiveup.com.
