Marquette, MI – October 8, 2026 – Upper Peninsula Health Plan is getting the word out about their MI Coordinated Health plan.
Wieczorek explained that it is a Highly Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan or “HIDE SNP”, which is a Medicare Advantage plan that combines Medicare and Medicaid benefits into one plan.
She said the Upper Peninsula Health Plan MI Coordinated Health is an HMO D-SNP that contracts with both Medicare and Michigan Medicaid to provide benefits of both programs to enrollees. Enrollment in Upper Peninsula Health Plan MI Coordinated Health depends on contract renewal.
Wieczorek said in order to qualify, individuals must be at least 21 years old, have Medicare Parts A and B, receive full Medicaid benefits, and live in the U.P., adding that if someone meets those requirements, they may be eligible to enroll and enjoy the convenience of having their healthcare benefits combined into one plan.
She also laid out several enhancements have been made to the plan’s benefits for 2027, including one key improvement is to the over-the-counter card or OTC benefit.
Wieczorek said not only increasing the benefit, but we’re also adding coverage for grocery items through a special supplemental benefit for chronically ill members. Not everyone will qualify, but for eligible members, this can provide additional support in managing their health and nutrition needs.
She closed with saying the UPHP MI Coordinated Health will be available in all 15 Upper Peninsula counties in 2027, expanding access to more residents than ever before.
