Marquette, MI – January 7, 2026 – On our latest Upper Peninsula Health Plan Update, we learned more about Dr. Francis Darr, who stepped into the role of UPHP Medical Director in August 2025.
Dr. Darr spoke about his new role and more with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Dr. Darr explained that he is a board-certified pediatrician who has cared for children and families since 2002, with a career rooted in preventive care, evidence-based medicine, and community-focused practice.
He added that he has been closely connected to UPHP for more than 10 years through his service on the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and Clinical Advisory Committee, and that his new role with UPHP was a good fit for both him and the agency.
Dr. Darr also talked about UPHP’s Pediatric Provider Network where UPHP partners with a wide range of pediatricians, family medicine providers, nurse practitioners, and specialists who serve families across all 15 U.P. counties.
He explained that the program allows families access high-quality pediatric care close to home, and that the effort is supported by his focus on prevention, early intervention, and whole-child health.
