Active’s Megan Mathieu Discusses Parkinson’s Disease Awareness

Marquette, MIApril 23, 2025 – On our latest update with Active Physical Therapy, we heard more about April being Parkinson’s Awareness Month.

Megan Mathieu, Physical Therapist with Active in their Ishpeming location, talked about it with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Mathieu outlined why awareness of Parkinson’s Disease is important, explaining that the U.P. has a high prevalence of the condition and that it is the fastest growing neurological condition in the country.

She also talked about the importance of early intervention, as that makes it easier to strengthen and focus on affected areas of the body to build up as strong and flexible of a base as possible, which can at times slow the rate of decline.
