Marquette, MI – March 4, 2025 – March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Upper Peninsula Health Plan is getting the word out about the importance of screening.
Anderton explained what colorectal cancer is and that it is preventable, detectable and if found early, treatable.
She added that UPHP is encouraging individuals look into the recommended cancer screenings for them by contacting their primary care physician as soon as possible to schedule this important care.
Anderton outlined some of the risk factors for colorectal cancer as well as some of the main screening options, adding that it’s important to not wait for symptoms to be checked.
She added that precancerous polyps and colorectal cancer do not always cause symptoms, especially early on, and screening helps find it early, when treatment can be very effective.
