
Marquette, MI – December 4, 2024 – Upper Peninsula Health Plan is getting the word out about their 2024 “Smart Rx” campaign.
Riley explained that the campaign is organized by Upper Peninsula Health Group and partners with primary care providers across the U.P. to highlight appropriate antibiotic use, risk of antibiotic resistance and how patients can use supportive treatments for viral illnesses.
Norton talked about Access Family Medicine’s process for treating patients with viral illness with over-the-counter medications that may be used to relieve a variety of symptoms. She also talked about how AFM prescribes an antibiotic to a patient when that patient fails to improve 7-10 days after the symptoms start.
They added that it’s important to visit your doctor when you are not sick so your doctor can learn about your everyday health and people can maintain good health throughout the year by eating well and exercising often.
