Marquette, MI – 7/2/2024 – Upper Peninsula Health Plan has launched the 2024 Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures campaign, in collaboration with the Upper Peninsula Health Group.
Chelsea Ely, UPHP Clinical Coordinator, spoke about the campaign with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Ely explained the campaign focuses on the importance of preventative care for children ages birth through 21 by completing annual well-care visits.
She said the annual well-care visits help promote lifelong health by starting healthy habits early and is an important way to track a kid’s physical, emotional, and social development.
Ely added that for teens and young adults, the visits allow them to start taking responsibility for their health and prepare them to navigate the health system as they become adults.
Ely also said that children, teens, and young adults need a well care visit annually. Parents and young adults should call their primary care provider’s office to get one scheduled if they have not had one yet this year.
Kids who have their well-care visits completed at participating providers’ offices during the 2024 Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures campaign will be entered to win prizes at each practice, so call as soon as you can to schedule the well-care visit.
