
Marquette, MI – June 11, 2024 – Marquette-based biotech company, Myconaut, has secured a national grant to research the role of fungi and mushrooms in removing pollutants from the soil.
The funding has been awarded in a $275,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
They spoke about the grant that is allowing them to expand their research staff and lab facility to research how fungi can break down P-FAS, also known as “forever chemicals”, in the soil to clean up contamination.
They also talked about several aspects of the company and it’s future plans.
The grant comes from the NSF’s Small Business Innovation Research program and is the first research project in what’s known as “mycoremediation” to receive such funding.
