August 17, 2026 – Marquette, MI – State Senator Ed McBroom says he is expecting a possibly busy September in Lansing following the August primary elections.
McBroom shared his thoughts on the primaries and more with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
The Dickinson County Republican said he focused his efforts in the primary to find a successor to him, as he is term limited at the end of this year. McBroom said he was campaigning for current Republican State Representative Dave Prestin of Cedar River to secure the party’s nomination, which ultimately was successful.
McBroom said now there is a small window of time in the month of September to get back to work in Lansing, and he is surprisingly hopeful there will be resolution to the energy legislation addressing the so-called RICE, or reciprocating internal combustion engine, generators in use in the U.P. that has been in somewhat of a legislative limbo for several months.
