MarquetteMarch 21, 2014 – Solo acoustic guitarist and singer Michael Waite of Marquette opens the final show at Jamrich Hall at NMU. 200 plus people enjoyed Michael as he played several of his favorites along with new music that he has recently finished. Michael captivated the Jamrich audience with his clever story telling and deluxe acoustic guitar riffs. I especially liked his scatting to jazzy melodies.

The show continued for another 90minutes with Marcus and Tuomo from Finland. Organize Dan Truckey from NMU met these guys at Finnfest in Arizona. He said let’s bring them to Marquette. They have been in Texas playing and yesterday were in Chicago. Markus Nordenstreng is a Finnish folk rocker on guitar. Tuomo Prattala played a Nord Electric Piano and sang soulfully. Their music has been described as “Blue-eyed soul”. I noticed conviction in their original music with stories of what life has dealt them.”

Organizer Dan Truckey indicated the evening was a bitter sweet for him. Truckey said, “The concert series began right here back in 1990 in Jamrich 102 and tonight, it is the last.”

It was a good night at NMU.
