Negaunee, MI – September 4, 2026 – The Negaunee High School Football team took to their home field tonight for Parents Night, ready to defend their turf against the Gladstone Braves! With both teams coming into tonight’s match-up undefeated, there was no question that this was going to be a game to watch. The Negaunee Miners haven’t lost to Gladstone since 2023, and tonight they were looking to keep that streak alive while continuing their undefeated start to the season.

First Quarter
Negaunee didn’t have the ideal start with their first position play only gaining about half a yard, but the Negaunee High School Football quickly found their rhythm. Gladstone came in hard and matched the energy we’ve seen from them in previous match-ups, but Negaunee was ready, changing up their plays and keeping the Braves on their toes.
Then, Kyle Waterman struck again!
Back-to-back weeks, Waterman has been the one to draw first blood on the scoreboard, showing that early-season fearlessness once again as he found the end zone to give Negaunee the first touchdown of the night. The Miners followed it up with the extra points to make it 8-0.
However, Gladstone just could not seem to get anything going. Not one Gladstone snap had even happened on the Negaunee side of the field at this point! Ty Neame powered his way into the end zone for Negaunee’s second touchdown of the night. Unfortunately, Neame took a hard hit on the dive and went down after the play, so we’re all hoping it’s nothing serious and that he’ll be okay. Negaunee added the two-point conversion, pushing the score to 16-0.
The Miners were taking control early.

Second Quarter
Kyle Waterman was putting on a quarterback master class tonight. Following up on his incredible performance from last week, Waterman delivered a bullet of a pass to Cole Prusi, who raced all the way to the end zone for his first varsity touchdown! With just four minutes left in the first half, the Miners were able to add the two-point conversion and stretch their lead to 24-0.
Waterman’s confidence is clearly not going anywhere. After the amazing performance last week, the wind is nowhere close to leaving his sails! Gladstone continued to struggle to break through Negaunee’s defense, and the Miners held their commanding lead going into halftime.
Score: Negaunee 24 – 0 Gladstone
Third Quarter
And Negaunee came right back out of halftime ready to keep going. The Miners put six more points on the board almost immediately, bringing the score to 30-0 after a strong Negaunee drive. The offense was rolling, and Ty Neame found the end zone for his second touchdown of the game, pushing the Miners all the way to 36-0.
Negaunee High School Football has now scored on every possession they have had tonight. That is an absolutely incredible offensive performance from the Miners!
The Braves finally managed to break through and put their first points on the board late in the quarter, but Negaunee still headed into the final stretch with a massive lead.
Score: Negaunee 36 – 6 Gladstone
Fourth Quarter
With just 11 minutes left on the clock, the question is now: Can Gladstone mount a comeback, or will Negaunee hold onto their massive lead and walk away undefeated?
The Miners have controlled this game from the opening quarter, with their offense firing on all cylinders and their defense keeping Gladstone from finding any rhythm for most of the night. Whatever happens in these final minutes, this has already been a huge showing from Negaunee on their home field for Parents Night!
