Negaunee, MI September 19, 2025 – The Negaunee High School Football team took to their home field tonight, determined to defend their turf against the always-tough Kingsford Flivvers. The energy in the stands was electric as fans filled the stadium, eager to see how the Miners would respond after last week’s game. Carl Nelson and Brad Saatio were on the call, bringing every moment of the action to listeners live on Sunny 101.9.

Negaunee wasted no time putting points on the board. Junior Even DeAngelo kicked off the excitement with an explosive kick return that brought home the Miners’ first 6 points of the game. Less than a minute later, Negaunee capitalized again, punching the ball into the end zone and taking an early 8-0 lead.

The Miners kept the pressure on throughout the first quarter, averaging nearly two points per minute. Before 30 minutes had passed, Negaunee had built a commanding 21-0 lead, stunning the Flivvers and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

But Kingsford wasn’t ready to back down. With 10 minutes left in the first half, they finally found their rhythm and scored to close the gap. Another Flivvers touchdown with just 5 minutes remaining narrowed the score to 21-14, reminding the Miners that they would need to stay locked in if they wanted to walk away with a win.

The second half brought even more intensity – and adversity. The field was slick, leading to slips and injuries that began to take their toll on Negaunee. Despite their determination, the Miners’ early momentum slowed, and Kingsford took advantage, eventually claiming the lead.

By the fourth quarter, Kingsford had built a 14-point lead, but Negaunee refused to give up. They battled hard to close the gap and keep the game alive, giving fans an edge-of-the-seat finish.

Will the Miners pull off a comeback, or will Kingsford hold on to secure the win? To find out how this nail-biter ends, listen to the full broadcast and relive the action play-by-play with Carl Nelson and Brad Saatio on Sunny 101.9!
