Iron Mountain scored on the second play from scrimmage when Alex Jayne caught a long pass from Ian Marttila for a touchdown.  The extra point was no good, but the Mountaineers made up for it with just under three minutes to go in the first quarter when Aiden Ellis found paydirt for another touchdown and Oskar Kangas caught a pass to complete the two point try and put Iron Mountain up 14-0.  Things got worse for Negaunee when Kangas caught a touchdown pass just under four minutes into the second quarter, and with the PAT, the lead was extended to 21-0.  Negaunee scored a few minutes later on a Brock Bonovetz run to cut the lead to 21-7, but Iron Mountain punched in another score with 37 seconds on the clock to take a 28-7 lead into halftime.

Negaunee received the kickoff to start the second half, and opened the third quarter scoring when Bonovetz capped off a good drive with a two yard touchdown carry.  The extra point was good, putting the score at 28-14, which is where it stayed for the remainder of the third quarter.  Jayne responded early in the fourth with a one yard rushing score, and with the PAT, the Iron Mountain lead became 34-14.  With 4:20 remaining in the game, Negaunee scored again on a short reception by Brady Mager to close the gap to 34-21, but the ensuing onside kick was recovered by Iron Mountain and they were able to run out the clock.

Negaunee will be back in action next weekend when they open postseason play against an opponent to be determined.  The time is also yet to be announced, but whenever the game is, Carl and Brad will have all the action on Sunny 101.9 and online at sunny.fm.
