Negaunee, MI – October 18, 2024 – After last week’s tough loss to the Menominee Maroons, the Negaunee High School Football team returned to their home turf determined to make a major comeback. Fans packed the stands as Negaunee looked to re-establish their dominance on the field. This week, the Miners faced off against the Houghton Gremlins, and they didn’t disappoint. Announcers Carl Leander Johnson and Brad Saatio were on the call live from the stadium on Sunny 101.9, bringing play-by-play action to listeners.
Negaunee High School Football hit the ground running, with Weston Yesney connecting for the first touchdown of the game within the first five minutes. Tyler Jacobson and Ian Angstrom proved to be a dynamic duo setting the pace early, giving Negaunee the lead. Even when Houghton managed to score, closing the gap to 12-6, the Miners’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with a combination of powerful throws and strategic plays that kept Houghton on the defensive. Jacobson and Angstrom continued their unstoppable performance adding two more touchdowns before the end of the half. Jacobson racked up an incredible three quarterback touchdowns in just the first half, leaving fans astonished. By halftime, the score stood at Negaunee 24 – 6 Houghton, and the momentum was clearly in the Miners’ favor.
