First Half:
The game kicked off with Calumet starting on offense, driving hard down the field. Despite some early momentum, the Negaunee High School Football defense, led by a returning linebacker, #35, who was back after missing two games due to injury, stood strong. A key moment came when Negaunee’s Helen made a critical saving tackle after Calumet quarterback Lucas made a significant gain. Throughout the first half, Calumet’s offense struggled to find its rhythm. Despite efforts to push through the Negaunee High School Football defensive line, notable tackles by Brady and David Carlson kept Calumet in check. The Miners’ defense, especially their ability to shut down Calumet on crucial downs, was the standout of the half. The Copper Kings were repeatedly forced into fourth-down situations, including a pivotal fourth-and-one, which the Miners’ defense stopped, leading to a turnover on downs. On the offensive side, Negaunee High School Football gained momentum as the game progressed. A series of successful drives saw big plays, including a 30-yard run by Jacobson and an impressive 45-yard reverse play by Angstrom. These efforts pushed the Miners deep into Calumet territory, setting them up for scoring opportunities.
