NEGAUNEE – SEPTEMBER 06, 2024 – We are back with Negaunee Highschool Football as they kick off their second game of the season against one of their toughest rivals, the Gladstone Braves! Announcers Carl Leander Johnson and Brad Saatio are on call live from the stadium on Sunny 101.9. The Negaunee Miners are once again playing on their home turf tonight, hoping to secure another victory to start the season off strong!
First Half: The Negaunee Miners weren’t as rigorous in the first quarter as last week. Both teams battled back and forth, but the wet turf hampered their performances. Each team struggled to break through the other’s defense, resulting in no scores. However, in the second quarter, Negaunee began to gain an advantage. Benovitz dug deep and scored a touchdown for the Miners, bringing the score to Negaunee 7, Gladstone 0. The Braves quickly responded, tying the game at 7-7. Not to be outdone, Negaunee swiftly retook the lead, pushing the score to 14-7. The Miners’ defense showcased its strength, preventing Gladstone from scoring again before the end of the first half, which concluded at Negaunee 14, Gladstone 7.
Second Half: The third quarter opened with an exciting punt return by Brady Mager, giving Negaunee a great start. Want to know what happened for the rest of this eventful second half?
