The game was off to a slow start, as the Miners led 4-1 early with six minutes to go in the first quarter. A Negaunee three-pointer put them up 7-1, they began to click offensively. Gladstone couldn’t get anything going, as with three minutes remaining in the quarter, they only had a single point on the scoreboard. The Braves would score their first field goal of the game with under two minutes to go, their deficit was now 9-3. After a defensive struggle, the Miners led the Braves 11-5 after one quarter of play.
End of 1st: Negaunee Miners 11, Gladstone Braves 5
Negaunee had a strong start to the second quarter, as they extended their lead to 17-5. The Miners were playing impressive defense, they caused the Braves to only score seven points in 12 minutes of action. Gladstone trailed 23-11 to Negaunee, they still struggled in their half-court offense. Over these past few games, the Miners have really committed to defending, and the score totals showed.
