Negaunee, Michigan – December 13th, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Boys Basketball Team hosted the Kingsford Flivvers tonight, in their home opening game. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the exciting action LIVE from the U.P. Propane Press Box on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners won the tip and scored with a basket by Dre Tuominen and took the early lead against the Kingsford Flivvers. The Negaunee Miners put on a great defensive performance in the first quarter and were able to reduce the number of baskets scored by the Flivvers. The Negaunee Miners were leading 14-7 with the quarter half over. The Kingsford Flivvers continued to struggle against the Negaunee Miners defense in the quarter and trailed 23-11 at the end of the first.
The Negaunee Miners started the scoring in the second quarter with a basket by Mark Anderson and took a 26-11 lead over the Flivvers. The Kingsford Flivvers struggled with the Miners defense and were only able to score 4 points by the halfway point of the second quarter, to trail 31-15 against the Miners. The Negaunee Miners were able to maintain a decent lead throughout second quarter and ended the first half of play with a 38-16 lead over the Flivvers on Sunny.FM.
The Kingsford Flivvers were able to out score the Miners in the first couple of minutes of the third quarter, but still trailed 40-22 with 6:30 left on the clock. The Negaunee Miners would answer back quickly and found themselves with a 46-21 lead with the quarter half over. The Negaunee Miners ended the third quarter with a commanding 52-27 lead over the Flivvers.
The Negaunee Miners continued to dominate the game throughout the fourth quarter and easily won this game 70-43 against the Kingsford Flivvers on Sunny.FM.
