Escanaba, Michigan – December 6th, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Boys Basketball Team traveled to Escanaba, Michigan tonight to face the Escanaba Eskymos, in their regular season opener. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the exciting action from the court, from the U.P. Propane Press Box on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners won the tip to start the game and were first to score with a basket from Trent Bell. The Escanaba Eskymos were quick to answer back and took the lead 3-2, with an old fashion 3 point play. The Negaunee Miners were able to take back the lead early and with the quarter half over led 11-5 against the Eskymos. The Negaunee Miners were able to widened their lead by the end of the first quarter, 21-8 against the Escanaba Eskymos.
The second quarter started slow, but the Negaunee Miners scored first to lead 23-8. The Escanaba Eskymos offense started to pull away early in the second quarter and tighten the Miners lead to 23-12. The Negaunee Miners and the Escanaba Eskymos played a back and forth game the remainder of the first half , but the Negaunee Miners pulled away with a 33-22 lead to end the second quarter.
Negaunee Miner Trent Bell scored the first shot of the third quarter to give the Miners a 35-22. The Negaunee Miners came out of the locker room on fire and took a 40-22 lead in the first two minutes. The Escanaba Eskymos continued to struggle against the Miners throughout the third quarter and trailed 42-24 with the quarter half over. The Negaunee Miners came out of the third quarter with an impressive 55-34 lead over the Eskymos on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners continued to dominate the game and easily took this one68-48 over the Escanaba Eskymos . Trent Bell helped the Miners to victory with 37 points of his own. GO MINERS!!!
