
Manistique, Michigan – Friday December 2nd, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball Team traveled to Manistique, Michigan tonight to face the Manistique Emeralds. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the action, LIVE from the U.P. Propane Press Box on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners won the tip and put an immediate 5 point on the board in the first minute to take a 5-0 lead against the Manistique Emeralds. The Negaunee Miners held the Manistique Emeralds to zero points for almost 3 minutes, when the Emeralds put their first points on the board to trail the Miners 8-2. The Negaunee Miners pulled out of the first quarter leading the Manistique Emeralds 24-7 on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners started the second quarter on fire and scored a quick 4 points in the first minute. The Manistique Emeralds put their first points on the board 3 minutes into the quarter to trail the Miners 32-9. The Negaunee Miners continued to dominate the Manistique Emeralds throughout the second quarter and ended the first half with a 43-11 lead.
Clara Johnson would be first to score in the third quarter to give the Miners a 45-11 lead over the Emeralds. The Negaunee Miners took a 40 point lead halfway through the quarter and led 52-12 over the Manistique Emeralds. The third quarter ended with the Negaunee Miners leading 54-12.
The fourth quarter started with a running clock. The Manistique Emeralds had their best quarter of the game, but were unable to catch up to the Negaunee Miners lead. The Negaunee Miners won the game 63-21 over the Manistique Emeralds on Sunny.FM. The Negaunee Miners are now 2-0 on the regular season.
