NEGAUNEE, MI – 12/1/2014 – The 2014-2015 fall season has come to an end with this past weekend’s games at Ford Field, and it’s time to look to the winter sports. With some defending MPC Champions, a couple of multi-school collective teams, and a lot of Negaunee Miner Pride, you were able to meet your athletes of the 2014-2015 winter season!
Here is who will be representing your city and hometown Miner fans!
The Freshman boys basketball team will be headed up by Jeff Niemi, who’s coached the team since the 2005-2006 season.
Kevin Jacobson has been the JV coach for quite some time and will look to build on past successes.
Replacing Mike O’Donnell is no easy task, but the form Mustang coach Dan Waterman is up to the task! (Two players were absent)
The defending co-MPC champion varsity girls basketball team will be led by Brandon Sager once again.
The JV team may be small in number, but high in experience. Coach Ally Solander will be on the bench once again with assistant coach Kennan Marana.
After not having a freshman girls team last year, coach Ann Skewis will look to get the Freshman program back on track.
Your Negaunee Miners Varsity Hockey team will have a tournament down in Petoskey this weekend!
First-year head coach Ed Champion will have former Negaunee Miner Matt Oswalt assisting him.
Long-time gymnastics coach Bill Ellerbruch will be back on the mats this year along with coach Eyre Becker
The swim team is a collective of a few schools, including Ishpeming & Gwinn. They’ll be coached by Pete Kenn.
