Negaunee Girls Tennis Wins Third Meet in a Row

NEGAUNEE, MI – 9/3/2014 –The Negaunee Girls Tennis team remained undefeated with a big win on Tuesday at the courts in Negaunee.  This time they welcomed in their MPC rival Gwinn Modeltowners.  Negaunee came into this meet with a 2-0-1 overall record, and had won 15 of their last 16 matches individually.  Few things changed this time, as the Negaunee girls took out the Modeltowners at every turn, winning all eight matches, without losing a SINGLE GAME in the process.

SINGLES

  2. Angie Ring (Neg) def. Alli Johnson (Gwn)  6-0, 6-0
  3. Allison Ring (Neg) def. Paula Vincent (Gwn)  6-0, 6-0
  4. Dana DeBretto (Neg) def. LeAnn Brinker (Gwn)  6-0, 6-0

The girls singles team still has yet to lose a match in this year, early though it may be.

 

DOUBLES

  1. Hanna & Elly Kantola (Neg) def. Samantha Bell & Lorraine Vandermate (Gwn)  6-0, 6-0
  2. Lauren Anderson & Kassy Harsila (Neg) def. Tequila Larson & Manda Humphrey (Gwn)  6-0, 6-0
  3. Megan Syrjala & Nicole Violetta (Neg) def. Makayla Peterson & Emily Barnett (Gwn)  6-0, 6-0
  4. Brooke Bossert & Katrina Turecky (Neg) def. N/A by default

 

After his team’s impressive showing, head coach Kyle Saari had this to say:

“We played well after taking a break for the long weekend. Our doubles are improving each day and that’s important. Megan [Syrjala] and Nicole [Violetta] continue to gain more confidence with each meet.”

 

The Negaunee Girls Tennis team’s next meet will be tomorrow (WEDNESDAY, September 3rd) at 4pm in Negaunee vs. Westwood.  GO MINERS!
