NEGAUNEE, MI – 1/21/2014 – The Negaunee Miners boys basketball team had a few struggles on Tuesday night in Lakeview Memorial Gymnasium, but they prevailed nontheless. With Iron Mountain playing a multitude of zone defenses, Tyler Jandron was able to shoot and find open players in the middle such as sophomore Jay Lori, who finished tied with Jandron for a game-high 18 points. Along with Jandron’s great scoring performance came seven assists & five steals, showing why he’s the front-runner for the ABC U.P. Player of the Year once again. Zane Radloff posted his second straight double-double en route to the Miners 62-51 MPC victory, and the Miners are rolling in their expected mid-season form.
As mentioned in my composite schedule article earlier this week, when players like Radloff, J. Lori, and Robert Loy are putting out their best games along with the consistent Jandron & E. Lori, the Miners are nearly unbeatable. If this type of play is indicative of how the Miners will play down the stretch of the season, I don’t think there’s any doubt who will come out on top of the MPC at the end of February.
Be sure to tune into 101.9 SunnyFM for all of your upcoming Negaunee Miners Basketball action. The next boys game that will be broadcasted will be this friday night in Manistique. Pregame will begin at 7:00pm and tip-off is set for 7:30! Go Miners!
