Marquette, Michigan Tuesday February 23rd, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball team was in Marquette, Michigan tonight to face the Marquette Redettes. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the action LIVE from the U.P. Propane Broadcast Booth on Sunny.FM.
The first quarter had a slow start, but the Negaunee Miners put the first points on the board to take the early lead against the Marquette Redettes. The first quarter was a defensive battle and both teams were well matched with the score 8-8 midway through the quarter. The Negaunee Miners ended the first quarter trailing the Marquette Redettes 12-11.
The second quarter started slow, but the Miners scored on one of their free throw attempts to tie the score 12-12 with one minute played. The Marquette Redettes had a slight lead 18-14 on the Negaunee Miners with quarter half over, but the Miners kept fighting and tied the score 18-18 with 2 minutes left. The Negaunee Miners ended the first half trailing Marquette Redettes 19-18.
The Negaunee Miners started with the third quarter scoring first again and regained the lead 20-19. Hailey Fezatt followed up the first point from the Miners with an old fashion 3 point play to give the Miners a 23-19 lead. The Miners led 26-19 with quarter half over, but the Marquette Redettes were able to tighten the Miners lead 26-25 with 3 1/2 minutes left in the quarter. The Negaunee Miners ended the third quarter trailing 36-31 against the Marquette Redettes on Sunny.FM.
The Marquette Redettes started the fourth quarter scoring and took the biggest lead of the night 38-31 against the Negaunee Miners. The Negaunee Miners struggled with their offense and with the fourth quarter half over trailed 43-33 against the Marquette Redettes. The Negaunee Miners fell to the Marquette Redettes 53-43 on Sunny.FM.
