Ishpeming, Michigan January 25th, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball team traveled to Ishpeming, Michigan tonight to face the Ishpeming Hematites for an exciting rivalry game. Brady Guilbault was there to bring you all the exciting action from the U.P. Propane Press Box on Sunny.FM.
The Ishpeming Hematites won the tip and the first basket to lead 2-0 early, but the Negaunee Miner’s Aleda Johnson quickly answered back with a 3 point shot. The Negaunee Miners maintained the lead until the last 3 minutes when the Hematites took a 8-7 lead. The first quarter ended with a tie 12-12.
The Negaunee Miners were first to score in the second quarter with another 3 point shot by Aleda Johnson to take a 15-12 lead. The Miners and the Hematites played an excellent fast paced game, but the Miners maintained a 20-18 lead with second quarter half over. The Negaunee Miners ended the first half trailing 27-28 against the Ishpeming Hematites in Ishpeming, Michigan.
The Negaunee Miners started the third quarter trailing the Ishpeming Hematites after the first minute 29-31. Hailey Fezatt was able to put the Miners back in the lead 33-32 with 3 minutes played in the third quarter on Sunny.FM. The game was tied again with two minutes left in the quarter 37-37. The Negaunee Miners held a small lead 40-39 against the Ishpeming Hematites to end the third quarter.
The Negaunee Miners started the fourth quarter scoring to widen their lead 42-39 against the Hematites. The Miners were able to maintain the lead for the first half of the first quarter 45-41 to the Hematites. The Negaunee Miners were able to maintain the lead throughout the fourth quarter and won 51-49.
The Negaunee Miners defeated the Ishpeming Hematites (51-49) on Sunny.FM.
