Negaunee, Michigan January 14th, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball team hosted the Gwinn Modeltowners tonight. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the action from the U.P. Broadcast Booth on Sunny.FM.
The game started slow tonight for both teams, but the Gwinn Modeltowners were first to score to take the early lead 2-0. The Negaunee Miners quickly answered back and with 2 minutes played were tied 4-4 with the Modeltowners. The Negaunee Miners struggled against the Gwinn Modeltowners late in the first quarter and trailed 10-7. The Negaunee Miners ended the first quarter with a slight lead 14-10, against the Modeltowners on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners started the second quarter scoring a three pointer to give them an 17-10 lead. The Negaunee Miners offensive started to come alive pushed their lead to 22-12 with quarter half played. The Negaunee Miners maintained a lead double digit lead 28-17 against the Gwinn Modeltowners to end the first half.
The Negaunee Miners came into the second half fighting and immediately scored to baskets to take a 32-17 lead against the Modeltowners. The Modeltowners started to play tough defense against the Miners in the third quarter, but the Miners led 36-20 with quarter half played. The Negaunee Miners finished the third quarter on a scoring run and led 45-26 against the Gwinn Modeltowners.
It was slow paced in the first minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Negaunee Miners maintained a 49-31 lead. The Miners continued to maintain the lead throughout the fourth quarter and wrapped this game up with a win 57-41 over the Gwinn Modeltowners on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners defeated the Gwinn Modeltowners (57-41) on Sunny.FM.
