Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball with Heather on Sunny 101.9 WKQS

The Miners jump out to an early 5-0 lead. Midway through the first the Miners are out to a 10-3 lead. After a pair of free throws the Miners extend the lead to 12-3 with just under two minutes left. Negaunee is up 14-7 with just under a minute left in the first quarter of the first conference game of the season.
After a quarter of play it’s the Miners jumping out to an early lead.

Early in the second quarter it’s the Miners connecting from three-point land to take a 17-7 lead. With 5:58 left to go in the second quarter it’s the Miners using a pair of turnovers to extend their lead to 23-7. Negaunee holds a 23-8 lead with 4:48 left to go in the half. Near the end of the second quarter the Miners hold a 27-12 edge.
At the end of the first half the Miners are holding onto a 31-21 lead.

It’s 32-23 Negaunee leading Manistique earlier in the third quarter. With 4:20 left in the third quarter the Miners are up 36-23. With 2:30 left to go in the third quarter it’s Negaunee 38, Manistique 26. The Miners extend their lead to 40-26 as the Emeralds take a timeout.
At the end of the third quarter it’s the Miners leading the Emeralds 40-28.

Negaunee starts off the fourth quarter with a three-pointer, extending their lead 43-28. Midway through the fourth quarter the teams are trading baskets as the Miners hold onto a 48-35 lead. Negaunee is pulling away in the fourth quarter as they extend their lead to 52-36 with 2:24 left in the fourth quarter. With just under a minute left Negaunee holds a 56-41 advantage.
Negaunee used a strong defensive performance and a solid fast break offense to pick up the 56-43 victory. The Miners are now 1-0 in conference play and 2-0 overall.
