Negaunee, MI – December 12,2022 – The Negaunee Miners won their second game of the season over the Gladstone Braves. The Miners were able to find their stride in Mondays night game leading them to a 55-27 victory.
First Quarter: The Gladstone Braves won the opening tip off to start off Monday nights game. Elliot Vitito scored a three pointer for the first points of the game giving Gladstone a 3-0 lead two minutes into the game. Negaunee was able to get their offensive efforts going and went on an 11-3 run. After the run the Miner’s led the Braves 14-4 with a few minutes left in the first quarter. The Negaunee Miners were able to create and force a lot of turnovers on the braves. The Miners held the Gladstone Braves to 4 points as they led 16-4 at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter: The Miners looked to continue their defensive efforts and build on their lead as the second quarter started. The offensive efforts of the Miners slowed down compared to the first. Later into the second the Miners were able to get their offensive efforts moving as they led 25-10 over the Braves. Gladstone kept running into some foul trouble as they tried to stop the scoring efforts of the Miners. Both teams could not escape the foul trouble they were running into late into the second. Negaunee was able to build their lead up to 20 headed into halftime, Negaunee leads 35-15.
Third Quarter: At the start of the third quarter Jace Turri Scored the first points to move Negaunee to a 22 point lead over the Braves. The third quarter was very low scoring as it reached the halfway point with Gladstone outscoring the Miners 4-2. Both teams continued to foul one another giving free throws back and fourth and heightening the chances of foul trouble. The Negaunee Miners will able to keep leading the Braves as they ended the third up 40-23.
Fourth Quarter: The Gladstone Braves started the fourth quarter with possession of the ball as they looked to comeback. The Miners took the biggest lead they’d had of the night as they led 50-25 nearing the halfway point in the fourth quarter. Alec Nelson had a huge three pointer towards the end of the fourth that made the crowd erupt. Negaunee took the win over the Braves as they finished the fourth quarter 55-27.
