Gaylord, MI– November 19, 2022- Negaunee beats Reed City to go to Detroit!
Q1: Reed City would start the game receiving the ball at the 20-yard line. Bryson Huges starts the game for Reed City with a big run getting them in Negaunee territory. Reed City goes for it on 4th down but would lose 5 yards and it would be turnover on downs. Negaunee would start with great field position at midfield. The Miners would start their drive with a 10-yard play. A big run gets Negaunee to the Reed City 30-yard line. Negaunee would go for it 4th and 4 and would not convert after a failed read option. Reed City would start on their own 24-yard line. Reed City would start the drive with a quick 1st down and after a few plays that would end the quarter.

Q2: Reed City would continue their drive going into the second quarter. After a big defensive stop, Reed City would have to punt it back to Negaunee. Negaunee avoids a three and out on their first drive in the second quarter. A failed read option would cause a fumble and Reed City would get the ball back in Negaunee territory. Xavier Allen would roll out and throw a completed pass to get Reed City to the 2-yard line. Reed City would strike first with a 3-yard touchdown run by Bryson Hughes. Reed City would fail on the 2-point conversion. Negaunee would start their second drive of the quarter on the 33-yard line. A personal foul by Reed City to move Negaunee 15-yards up field. Another turnover by Negaunee gives Reed City the ball at midfield. Reed City would not be able to do anything on offense and punt after a 3 and out. Negaunee would start on their own 15-yard line. Negaunee wouldn’t do much on offense and would end up punting the ball to Reed City. Reed City would start their first drive of the second half inside Negaunee territory. Reed City wouldn’t do much with their drive and punt after a 3 and out. Negaunee would get the ball at their own 33-yard line. A pass interference gives Negaunee a 15-yard penalty and puts them at midfield. Kai Lacar gets Negaunee their first first down of the half. A false start on Negaunee takes them back 5-yards. Kai Lacar after a big run would get Negaunee inside the 10-yard line. The Miners would have to go for it on 4th down at the 2-yard line and would score after a Nico Lukkarien touchdown run and would be able to make the P.A.T. That would put Negaunee in the lead for the first time today. Reed City would start their drive with a big run to get them at the Negaunee 30-yard line. That would end the quarter.

Q4: Reed City would start the quarter with run to get them inside the redzone. Reed City would go for it on 4th down and would convert. Reed City would score their second touchdown of the game for a Bryson Hughes touchdown and that would also be his second of the game. Reed City would go for the 2-point conversion and would not convert. Negaunee’s return would get them at midfield. Kai Lacar would get loose for a 12-yard gain. A false start would make a 1st and 15 for Negaunee. It is the Kai Lacar show for Negaunee as he got a 6-yard gain for the Miners. Negaunee would go for it on 4th and 8 and would convert after Kai Lacar gets the Miners to the 20-yard line. Kai Lacar would go score for his second touchdown of the game as Negaunee would retake the lead. Reed City would start their drive at the 40-yard line with about 2 and half minutes left. Reed City would get to the 30-yard line with a minute and a half left. A false start would take Reed City back to 1st and 15. Reed City would go for it on 4th and 11 with the game on the line, Negaunee would get the ball back after Nico Lukkarinen would make the game winning interception. Negaunee would knee the ball out.
