Manistique, MI – January 7th, 2022 – The Negaunee Miners girls basketball team look to even their record to 4-4 for the season as they travel to face the Manistique Emeralds.

1st Quarter: The scoring started early for Negaunee as Alyssa Hill drives to the paint to miss a shot but record her own offensive rebound, making the second shot attempt for the games first score. From there, the Miners went on a 10-0 run with Hill accounting for 8 points. Hill and Emily Gauthier were on full defensive display limiting the Emeralds to only 4 points in the quarter.
End of 1st Quarter: Negaunee Miners 15, Manistique Emeralds 4

2nd Quarter: Like much of the whole season, the second quarter proved troublesome early on. The Emeralds would open up the quarter on a 8-0 run bringing Manistique to within 3 points. Lily Nelson would hit a crucial 3 pointer to spark the offense. Summer Dudo coming out of a fastbreak with fancy dribbling to pass the ball to Gauthier under the basket for an easy 2 points. Hill would also makes a few shots under the basket to extend their lead. Tessa Standerford would close out the half with a jump shot going in.
End of 2nd Quarter: Negaunee Miners 28, Manistique Emeralds 13

3rd Quarter: The game got out of hand in the third period with all of the Negaunee Girls contributing one way or another. Ella Mason would drive to the paint and make a layup to start off the scoring. Gauthier and Dudo go on to make a pair of field goals, along with Alyssa Hill continuing her dominance under the basket. Dudo would close out the 3rd quarter with a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 41-22.
End of 3rd Quarter: Negaunee Miners 41, Manistique Emeralds 22
4th Quarter: More of the same in the fourth quarter with Cooper Atkins hitting a 3-pointer to open up the scoring in the final period. Negaunee’s defense limited the emeralds in the last quarter to only 4 points as Alyssa Hill finished with 22 points, 7 blocks, and 9 rebounds. Hill was awarded the Joe Boogren player of the game with her impressive skill on both sides of the court.
