Negaunee, Michigan – September 21, 2018 – It’s finally Friday! For me, this means several things, but what I most look forward to is the fact that I have extra time to spend with my son and husband. Hooray!
I work full-time at Great Lakes Radio. My husband works two part-time jobs, which keep him busy with full-time work. My son is in first grade, so he’s gone by 8:15AM and home by 4:30PM. My husband is involved in a pool league, and I practice yoga several times per week. My son also plays soccer in the summer, and now he’ll be starting hockey for the fall.
All of this keeps us extremely busy throughout the week. We don’t see each other much. So when Friday comes around, we all rejoice and make plans, whether it is a carefully planned out weekend, or a plan to do nothing at all but enjoy each other’s company.
It’s difficult during the week. I leave for work before both of them are awake, my husband gets my son up and on the bus in the morning, then he goes to work. Then the afternoon rolls around, I get home and I’m alone until my son gets off the bus later on. Then my husband goes to his other job or pool league, and comes home late in the evening when my son and I are already asleep. We all miss each other terribly.
So, once Friday afternoon rolls around, I know that we have all night to be together! Family games, movie, campfire, etc. etc. It’s a blast! Saturdays are hit or miss with us, as my husband usually works Saturday evenings, but during the day, we tend to plan something out to do together then, too. Sundays are for rest and relaxation. Doing nothing. It’s fabulous.
Tonight we will have family movie night. I cannot WAIT. Holden’s been really into the ’90’s family movies lately, and my husband and are so pumped to watch “Small Soldiers” for the millionth time. Why? Because we will all be together.
