
Marquette, MI – March 18, 2026 – Snow removal and cleanup efforts are continuing today after a massive blizzard that brought heavy snowfall and high winds across much of Upper Michigan Sunday and Monday.
The National Weather Service Office in Negaunee Township says weather conditions have significantly improved, but cleanup of the residuals of the storm on many side roads and outlying areas, however, have closed down many schools in the region.

Munising Public Schools & Munising Headstart
Munising Baptist Schools
Burt Township Schools
Superior Central Schools
M-DOT says M-28 remains closed this morning between Kawbawgam Road in Harvey and M-94 in Alger County due to heavy snow that has blocked the highway.
State Police and Emergency Management personnel say that travel will continue to be treacherous in some outlying areas as the widespread high winds and heavy snowfall over the last few days has resulted in major drifting that has closed of many roads. Agencies are asking people to continue to try to stay off of the side roads if at all possible to allow crews to do their cleanup jobs as needed.
