MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A tentative agreement between Cliffs Natural Resources and the United Steelworkers has been reached on a new three-year labor contract.
The proposed contract will cover approximately 2,400 USW-represented workers at Cliffs’ Empire and Tilden mines in Upper Michigan, and its United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Minnesota.
Company officials say they are pleased to reach the new contract and that it is fair and equitable to both parties. The agreement is pending ratification by USW local union memberships.
No additional details about the contract will be released at this time.
