Marquette, MI – September 1, 2021 – Northern Michigan University’s School of Nursing has started an animal therapy program this fall, and five nursing faculty received a grant to start the program.
They explained that six dogs were trained to become NMU therapy dogs, called “The Wildpups.”
Joining them today were two of the pups, Fonzie, a Siberian Husky, and Ramsey, and Australian Shepherd.
A series of events are being held this fall where students, faculty, and staff can visit the dogs and research is being done via a survey to see the impact animal therapy has on a college campus.
You can send an email to animaltherapy@nmu.edu for more information about the project and to get involved.
