Escanaba, Michigan– Negaunee loses the tip but Block Weaver swats the first shot attempt by Harbor Springs. Tyler Jandron opens up the scoring for the Miners as he converts a lay-up to put Negaunee up 2-0. Jandron hits a pair of free throws as the Miners take a 6-0 lead. Jandron has scored the first six points. Jandron hits a pull-up jumper as he has all 10 Negaunee points. With 2:21 remaining in the first quarter, the Miners are ahead 14-0. Negaunee’s defense continues to wreak havoc on the Rams, as they have jumped out to a 22-0 lead.
First quarter:
Negaunee: 23 Harbor Springs: 0
The Miners score 25 unanswered before the Rams hit a 3-pointer with seven minutes left in the second quarter. With 4:40 left in the half, Negaunee is holding a 27-7 advantage over Harbor Springs. Midway through the second, the Miners are up 27-11. Eric Lori hits a jumper to end the scoring drought for the Miners. With 1:18 remaining in the half the Miners are ahead of the Rams 32-15.

With six minutes to play in the third quarter, the Rams have cut the Miner lead to 13 points. Brock Weaver hits a lay-up to put Negaunee back up 39-24. Negaunee calls a timeout after Harbor Springs has cut their lead to 10 points. Tanner Uren gets a fast break lay-up to put Negaunee back up by 14 points. The Miners have stepped up the defensive pressure late in the third quarter as they have extended their lead back to 18 points. Jandron hits a up-and-under layup as the Miners take a 20 point lead at the end of the quarter.

Harbor Springs strikes first in the fourth quarter as Negaunee attempts to slow the pace in the final eight minutes of play. Midway through the fourth quarter, Negaunee is cruising with a 20-point lead. Negaunee is up 58-35 as the game nears the final minutes with under three left to play. As the game appears to be out of reach, both teams have turned to their benches for the final minutes of play.
Negaunee uses a huge first quarter and aggressive play on the defensive end to put away Harbor Springs in the first round of regional play.
