Marquette, MI – 07/13/2019 – Today we attended the exciting parade for the annual Pioneer Days festival in downtown Negaunee. This years parade theme was “Community Service” and it didn’t disappoint! Many local businesses and organizations joined together to create wonderful floats that represented what they are all about. Even some of our staff here at Sunny FM jumped in on the action. Walt and Kelsey from the Sunny Morning Show , hopped in the Sunny Flex and waved to the crowds of the Pioneer Days parade.
Some of the floats this year included United Steel Workers , Switzer Construction , and UPAWS . Also this year the Marquette County Medical Care Facility (MCMCF) did an outstanding jungle theme float. The sidewalks were packed with people for all of the candy and treats being thrown about. The fire truck sirens seemed to be a hit with the kids as well.
The Fringe Collective setting up to play music all afternoon for the Pioneer Days Festival
After the parade concluded, we went over to Teal Lake to see what they were serving for this years Community Picnic. They have favorites like the elephant ear from Ellie Ears. Some of the other vendors included Gravedoni Street Eats serving yummy items such as their cudighi sandwich and hot dogs. Teal Lake Pizzeria is also onsite with specialty pizzas for sale. The Fringe Collective will be playing music throughout the afternoon at Teal Lake Park.
The festival isn’t over yet! Head over to Teal Lake to get delicious food. The community picnic is going on now through the afternoon. When the picnic is over, check out the annual Negaunee fireworks display that will begin at dusk! Everyone looks forward to the fireworks display wrapping up the festivities with an amazing show that won’t disappoint.
