Marquette, MI – November 23, 2018 – A few weeks ago the Great Lakes Radio crew joined the Marquette Township Business Association to put up this year’s tree for the annual “Catch the Christmas Spirit” Tree Lighting Ceremony. Now we are just days away from the holiday tradition and we’re inviting you to come out and join us!
Grab the kids and come on down to the Applebee’s Parking lot to check out the 38 foot tree! There will be Christmas music on the big stage from “the Gift 106.1fm” before Northern Lights A Cappella Group and Negaunee Male Chorus lead us in some traditional seasonal carols. Around 6:30pm Santa is set to arrive on a township firetruck to light up Christmas!
Following the tree lighting, you can bring the kids into the mall to get a picture with Santa until 8pm. There will also be free cookies and juice from Super One Foods, free coffee and hot chocolate from BIGGBY Coffee and free popcorn from Honor Credit Union. And don’t worry about dinner, because Super One Foods will also be serving complimentary hot dogs and brats while supplies last!
You’ll also want to stick around for the New Attitudes Dance Studio performance in the mall plus enjoy carolers from the musical, “Elf Jr.” and a solo performance from Mr. U.P., Robert Kemp.
The Sheriff’s department will be on stand by watching out for the Grinch and Sunny.FM 101.9 will be broadcasting live from the ceremony with continuous updates.
Merry Christmas and let’s “Catch the Christmas Spirit”! See you there.
Special thanks to Barb and Dave Wiegand for donating this year’s tree and, Applebee’s, Westwood Mall, Super One Foods, BIGGBY Coffee, Honor Credit Union, the Marquette Township Fire Department, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, the Gift 106.1fm and Sunny.FM 101.9!
