U.P. 200 Sled Dog Race Weekend Events And Activities Set To Go!

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Preparations for the annual running of the UP 200, Midnight Run and Jackpine 30 sled dog races are continuing as mushers and their dog teams are arriving in the Marquette area.

    Ross Anthony, with the Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association, joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to give the latest update.

    Anthony said race headquarters and merchandise and silent auction areas are open at the Holiday Inn in Marquette, and the annual Musher Banquet is being held there at 6:30 tonight and is open to the public.

    He added that starting ceremonies are set for 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in Downtown Marquette with the first UP 200 sled dog team out of the gate at 7:00 p.m.

    The Midnight Run will also start in Downtown Marquette at 8:30 p.m.

    Anthony also said that volunteers are still needed for many jobs during the race weekend and anyone interested can find out more at up200.org.
